MT Finance x Prevent Breast Cancer
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, provide support to women with breast cancer and highlight how early screening can significantly improve the chances of a successful outcome.
In honour of this, we had the privilege of partnering with Prevent Breast Cancer charity to host a health talk on breast cancer prevention as part of our commitment to promoting employee well-being.
Key Takeaways
The talk covered a range of topics, including:
- Early detection: The importance of self-examination, regular screenings and mammograms.
- Risk factors: Understanding factors that can increase your risk, such as family history and lifestyle choices.
- Prevention: Lifestyle changes that can help reduce your risk, like maintaining a healthy weight and limiting alcohol consumption.
Even though women are the most affected by this disease, men are also at risk of developing breast cancer. It is advisable to do self-checks regularly at least once a month, (ideally just after period for women pre-menopause. If post-menopause, any time is fine).
As we continue to raise awareness about breast cancer this month, let’s take action to support those affected and to prevent future cases.
Supporting Prevent Breast Cancer Charity
Prevent Breast Cancer is the UK’s only charity dedicated to funding expert research into the prediction, prevention, and early detection of breast cancer.
We encourage you to consider donating to help fund their new National Breast Imaging Academy. This academy will enable 13,000 more women each year to receive mammograms and follow-up appointments, preventing delays in diagnosis and treatment.
Remember, early detection is key to beating breast cancer. By supporting Prevent Breast Cancer, you’re helping to make a difference this October and beyond.
