Ngage Finance’s Nathan Raffour and Andrew Gage: “Why giving back matters”

Making a difference requires determination, and that is exactly what director, Gareth Lewis and BDM, David Kingham showed when they joined forces with Ngage Finance co-founders Nathan Raffour and Andrew Gage. Together, they conquered the challenging Welsh peak Pen y Fan not just once, but multiple times in only 24 hours, all to support the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.

Eager to learn more, we caught up with them after their intense trek to find out what motivated them to take on this daunting task, their passion for giving back, and what exciting adventures they have planned next.

“Ngage always seek out new challenges that align with our work ethic. When we came across 10YFAN [where participants must climb Pen y Fan up to 10 times within 24 hours], we viewed it as an extremely demanding and physical event – but one we looked forward to taking on.

“We recognised the importance of being mentally prepared for it. However, we underestimated the exhaustion and physical demands of the challenge, requiring us to possess a great deal of perseverance and drive in order to successfully complete it. It was a truly gruelling experience!

“We fundraised for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity which made it worth it. Nathan’s daughter, Ava, received care from BCH for 15 years, requiring two liver transplants and having multiple heart defects. Their support and guidance greatly impacted Ava’s life. Through fundraising, we enable BCH to assist more children like Ava.

“The finance industry is well known for participating in charitable events, and as an industry, we are fortunate enough to be able to help others and support our communities. By joining forces with lenders or competitors, that support goes even further. We’d love to see more collaboration in the industry – we hope that events such as this will serve as inspiration for others to follow suit.

“With our Pen y Fan challenge now over, it’s time to set our sights on our next big adventure. It’s the daring Gareth Lewis’s turn to choose our next challenge! Stay tuned to find out what it might be!”
